Seasonal Treatments
We offer four seasonal treatments per year. These include a spring, early summer, late summer and an autumn/winter treatment. Each treatment will be tailored to suit the time of year.
Spring : March – May
A controlled release granular fertiliser is applied to the lawn. This is high in nitrogen to encourage lush growth after the cold winter months. Being predominantly slow release, there will be no excessive mowing required and the lawn will be fed right up until your next treatment. A liquid selective herbicide will be applied to control any emerging weeds.
contact usEarly Summer : May – July
This treatment consists of a coated slow release fertiliser ensuring regulated growth throughout this phase of the growing season. Suited to the summer, this fertiliser is safe to apply in dry, hot conditions resulting in a green and healthy lawn.
An assessment of the lawn will be carried out and an appropriate herbicide will be applied to control any weeds. This would also be a good time of the year to apply our water retention treatment if required.
Late Summer : July – September
In this summer application, a fully-coated drought-safe fertiliser is applied. This balanced fertiliser ensures your lawn has all the nutrients it needs to maintain a dense, healthy sward throughout the summer. A further herbicide will be applied to control any unwanted weeds.
Autumn / Winter : October – January
To help protect the grass over the cold winter months, a liquid iron fertiliser is applied. This strengthens the leaf and provides a rapid green up to the grass without producing growth, which is vital for these cold winter months to reduce susceptibility to lawn disease.
It also contains a moss control to suppress any moss throughout the winter months.

Hollow tine aeration is performed in spring and autumn. Aerating is an important part of any lawn care programme, and here at LawnTrust we offer hollow tine aeration. This process removes thousands of soil cores across the lawn, which we find to be the most effective way to achieve a healthy lawn.
The main benefit of aeration is to relieve soil compaction, but there many more advantages such as:
- Increased water, nutrient and air access to the soil.
- Relieves soil compaction. (as mentioned above)
- Aids drainage.
- Thins any sub-surface thatch (organic matter); thatch can naturally accumulate in lawns in the form of sub-surface or surface thatch.
- Encourages stronger deeper root development.
- Improves the lawns ability to cope with disease and drought.
- Provides a better environment to discourage moss.
- Overall resulting in a healthier root zone and lawn.
Throughout the year we will assess your lawn by taking a number of soil core samples. From this we can examine how compacted the soil is and the level of sub-surface thatch there is in the soil. This tells us if hollow tine aeration is required for your lawn and it will be recommended accordingly. All lawns benefit from aeration once a year.
Scarification is performed in spring and autumn. Scarifying is an essential benefit for any lawn care programme. At LawnTrust this mechanical process removes the majority of thatch from your lawn. The main benefits of scarification are:
- To remove surface thatch allowing water, nutrients and air easier access to the grass roots.
- It provides an improved environment for the root zone.
- A further benefit of reducing thatch levels is to discourage disease and moss.
- Removes moss.
- New growth will be stimulated to encourage a thicker healthier sward.
- Overall resulting in an improved environment to encourage a healthier lawn.
Similar to aeration, we will continue to assess your lawn throughout the year by taking a number of soil samples to examine overall thatch levels and soil condition. From this we can make recommendations accordingly.
If your lawn has a lot of moss and feels spongy under foot then this is an indication your lawn might benefit from scarification. The majority of lawns will benefit from scarification once a year.
Our LawnTrust renovation programme is designed to repair and revive the most damaged lawns. These are lawns which are full of moss, weed grasses and weeds.
This is a better, more cost-effective alternative to re-turfing.
We start by scarifying the lawn numerous times to remove the old lawn, back down to soil. Aeration is carried out to prepare the soil to be in the best possible condition. A carefully chosen seed mix is used which will result in a lush thick lawn.
Once re-seeded we dress your lawn in a high-quality top dressing to protect the seed and aid germination. We apply a granular fertiliser to provide plenty of nutrients for the seed to become established. This process will be completed in one visit and then 6 weeks later you will have a beautiful lawn.
We provide two follow up visits within 10-12 weeks after the work has been completed. The first visit will be to assess the lawn where we will continue to give advice on watering and mowing. On the second of the two visits we will apply the relevant granular fertiliser and a selective herbicide, if needed, to control any unwanted weeds appearing.
Drought stress is a continuing problem in the summer months, as rainfall levels have decreased, particularly here on the south coast.
Here at LawnTrust we offer a water retention treatment in the form of a liquid spray over the whole lawn. This will simply hold more water in the root zone of the grass, making use of any available moisture in the soil, resulting in a healthier and greener lawn for longer.
Our water retention treatment reduces the amount of water your lawn needs by 50%-80% therefore saving you water. An innovative seaweed extract is added to give an instant visual impact of improved colour.
This also improves root development and strengthens the grass against natural stresses.
Leatherjackets (daddy long legs) are becoming an increasing problem, due to the mild winters we are having their population is rising.
As grubs they feed on the root zone of the lawn, and depending on the size of the infestation, damage can be caused in a relatively short period of time.
Our pest management treatment notably reduces the number of pests in your lawn relieving stress and aiding your lawn’s recovery.
Disease Management Treatment
There are many different types of lawn diseases, and some of the most common include red thread and fusarium.
These can be encouraged if your lawn is in poor health. Here at LawnTrust we use the safest fungicides to treat and cure most problems in your lawn.
Preferably we try to avoid using fungicides by feeding and treating the lawn to promote a heathy dense sward, this will help to fight off any unwanted lawn diseases.
Scarification and aeration, along with regular mowing at the correct height, will help to cure and prevent diseases.
This treatment is a liquid herbicide which we simply spray onto your hard surfaces.
This will eradicate any unwanted weeds growing in places such as your driveway, patio, paths and gravel areas.
As with all of our services, the hard surface weed control treatment is perfectly safe for children and pets.
